“These data indicate that while a majority of respondents support the idea of some
kind of supranational judicial authority, most do not support the current proposal. In fact,
only Colombia seems commied to the Junta’s present proposal. In spring 1975 (several
months before the interviews in Colombia were carried out) the Colombian Supreme Court
issued a decision which not only recognized the supranational nature of the Andean Pact
but also encouraged the formation of an Andean Tribunal. The Colombians pointed to this
decision with pride, as a symbol of their commitment to the Tribunal”.
