Iusta is the institutional journal of the Faculty of Law of the University of Saint Thomas in Colombia. It serves for publishing investigations carried out by the university's professors and lecturers as well as by other academics who present dissertations of in-depth theoretical contents. Two years after Iusta's relaunch, the editorial board is delighted to inform the academic community that Colciencia, the Colombian Institute for Development of Science and Technology Francisco José de Caldas, has decided to admit the journal, from the present number on, in its catalogue. This is the first step in the process of including Iusta in Colciencia's index of publications.
The texts in this edition are divided in four sections. The first one, called Institutional Investigations, inclu-des two articles which reflect the results of two lines of investigations of the Centre of Socio-Legal Studies Francisco Vitoria. In the first article, titled La jurisdicción Especial de Paz, la Justicia de la Esperanza (The Special Jurisdiction of Peace, the Justice of Hope), Professor Rosembert Ariza expounds his investigation on this subject, showing the advances and virtues of the jurisdiction of peace in contrast to ordinary jurisdiction. And La Actualidad de la Filosofía de Tómas de Aquino (The Relevance of Thomas of Aquino's Philosophy) by Carlos A. Cárdenas and Édgar Guarín represents an in-depth dissertation about the validity of Thomas of Aquino's thinking in contemporary society. This article was written within the framework of the line of investigation Thomistic thinking in dialogue with contemporary legal philosophy.
The second section, called Professors' Investigations, includes the investigative contributions of the professors and lecturers who teach penal law. In the present edition of Iusta, the reader can find a series of reflections which study, from the perspective of different theoretical approaches and analytical advances, the principal transformations that affect penal law on a global level as well as its impact on our legal order. This debate is related to the transformation of the limits of penal law in the context of globalisation, a process which has a significant influence on the internal legal orders of many countries worldwide.
