Las regiones de la Costa Caribe Colombia-
na son un espacio donde existen diversida-
des de culturas que representan lo autóc-
tono y primigenio de lo que consideramos
nuestro. Al respecto, el grupo étnico de los
wayú, representa uno de los grupos cultu-
rales más emblemáticos no solo del país
sino de Latinoamérica misma, debido a la
complejidad de cada una de las estructu-
ras que constituyen sus saberes y prácticas
diarias. Es por ello, que resulta pertinente
analizar esta cultura pero desde el punto
de vista femenino, entendiendo que en los
wayú los lazos de parentesco legítimos -por
así decirlo- son representados por la mujer;
sin embargo, existe la contrariedad de que a
pesar de ese reconocimiento es subvalorada
por los miembros masculinos del grupo; de
allí que se hace pertinente analizar el ima-
ginario de la mujer wayú en la modernidad.
Para ello, se trabajan con diversos autores
como Foucault (1975), Comesaña (1995),
Amodio (2005), entre otros, siguiendo
una metodología de carácter documental
y bibliográco, a n de concluir sobre las
concepciones que se han entretejido sobre
el deber ser de la mujer occidental y que se
han traspolado al trato que recibe la mujer
wayú de estos tiempos.

this regard, the wayú ethnic group, repre-
sents one of the most emblematic cultural
groups not only of the country but in Latin
America, due to the complexity of each of
the structures that constitute your knowle-
dge and daily practices. at is why, it is re-
levant to analyse this culture, but from the
female point of view, understanding that
in the wayú of kinship ties legitimate so to
speak are represented by women, but the-
re is the disappointment that despite that
recognition is undervalued by the male
members of the Group; there that is rele-
vant to analyze the imagery of the wayuu in
the modern woman. For which work with
dierent authors such as Foucault (1975),
Comesaña (1995), Amodio (2005), among
others, following a methodology of docu-
mentary and bibliographical nature, in or-
der to conclude on the concepts that have
been woven on the duty to be Western wo-
men and they have traspolado to the these
times wayú women is treated.
