Resumen
El presente estudio ti ene como objetivo determinar en qué medida el nivel de información s obre el proceso de embarazo y el apoyo social
predicen la salud y calidad de vida percibi da en mujeres e mbarazadas. Para ello, un grupo de 94 mujeres emba razadas venezolanas en el
primer trimestre de gestación completaron los siguiente s instrumentos de autoreporte: Cuestionario de información, Cuestionari o de Apoyo Social,
Cuestionario de Salud General de Goldberg y Cuestionario sobre Calidad de Vida: Satisfacción y Placer, que miden las variables estudiadas. Los resultados
muestran que un mayor apoyo social predice significativamente mejor salud y mayor calidad de vida percibida en las embaraza das, mientras
que el nivel de infor mación sobre el proceso del embarazo no pare ce tener una influencia directa sobre estos ind icadores de salud.

Abstract
The aim of t he present study is t o determine whether the level of infor mation about pregnancy and the social suppor t predict the health
status and the perceived qual ity of life of pregnant women. To do so, a sample of 94 Venezuelan women on their fi rst trimester of p reg-
nancy compl eted the following self-report instr uments: Information Questionnaire, Social Support Questionnai re, Goldberg General Health Ques-
tionnaire and Quality of lif e, enjoyment and satisfa ction questionnaire, Q -LES-Q, which measure the studied variables. Res ults show that a higher
social support sign ificantly predict better health and high er perceived quality of life in these pregnant, while the level of infor mation about
pregnancy doe s not seem to have a di rect influence over thes e health indices.
