Resumen
El presente estudio tuvo como propósito desc ribir las características de los motivos de per manencia y abandono terapéutico de los consul-
tantes de la Unidad de Servicios Psicológicos de la Universidad Católica de Colombia entre los años 2007 y 2008. El tipo de investi gación
fue de tipo descriptivo. Los participantes fueron los cons ultantes que asis tieron a la Un idad de Ser vicios Psicológicos de la Universidad
Católica de Colo mbia entre los años 2007 y 2008 . El muestreo fue de tipo censal p uesto que se tomaron todos los us uarios y se analizó la
informaci ón de los que finalmente res pondieron los instru mentos así como las histori as clínicas de los usuarios . Los resultados permi tie-
ron identificar que el principal motivo por el cua l los usuarios abandonan el ser vicio está relaciona do con dificultades económic as para su
desplazamient o. Las variables analiz adas para permanece r o abandonar el ser vicio con respecto a la institución, al proceso terapéutico, al
consultante, al terapeuta y a la rel ación consultante - tera peuta, presentan un com portamiento similar.

Abstract
The purpos e of this cur rent research was to describe the characteristics of the reasons of permanence and therapeutic abandonm ent of
the consulta nts of the Psychologic al Services Un it of the Catolica University of Colombi a between 2007 and 2008. The type of research
was descr iptive. The pa rticipants were the consultants who were atte nded in the Psychological Ser vices Unit of the Catolica University
of Col ombia between 2007 and 2008. The sample was taken by census-type be cause it’s taken all users and analyzed the information
about the users t hat finally answered the instr uments also the users´ clinic histories of Unit. The r esults allowed to identify tha t the main
reason why users abandon the servic e is related to economic hard ship for their displacement. The variables analyz ed to permane nce or
abandonment the service with respect to the institution, the therapeutic pr ocess, the consult ant, therapist and relationship consul tant -
Therapist, sh ow a similar behavior.
