There could be no more opportune
than the present for the appearance
of the book Introduction to the Inter-
national Court of Justice which has
been written by Ricardo Abello Gal-
vis. I say opportune because at the
same moment as this work appears it is
common to hear public opinions and
dissertation by those who are barely
knowledgeable in such matters posing
as erudite on the subject.
This is precisely what has hap-
pened with is subject of the Interna-
tional Court of Justice (ICJ) as a result

Prólogo
No podía ser más oportuna la apa-
rición del libro “Introducción a la
Corte Internacional de Justicia” que
escribió el profesor Ricardo Abello
Galvis. Y digo oportuna porque en
las coyunturas en que un tema sale a
f‌lote es común escuchar opiniones y
disertaciones de personas que, apenas
“diletantes”, posan de eruditos en la
materia.
Es precisamente lo que sucede
sobre el tema de la Corte Internacio-
nal de Justicia a raíz del fallo del dieci-
nueve (19) de noviembre del 2012 en
